St Andrew’s parish covers the area of north Hertford and Sele Farm. Clergy are also responsible for our sister church, St Mary’s in Hertingfordbury
, and both the churches are part of the Hertford Team and the Diocese of St Albans
People come to St Andrew’s from within the parish boundaries and from further afield. There are no restrictions! Indeed, we regularly welcome people travelling from nearby villages and towns.
The congregations at our services reflect a wide range of society in terms of age, gender and background. Some have been Christians for years and come from different traditions, others have recently discovered their faith while some are still searching. All are welcome.
Our services and other activities
Our services reflect both traditional and modern approaches and, while some prefer to attend services of a particular style, many of our church members enjoy the variety that is offered.
A number of groups offer discussion and companionship. We offer Home Groups
that help their members to develop ideas and beliefs in a safe, trusting environment. Also, our Youth Worker organises a wide variety of activities including a full programme for different age groups on Sundays
Our town and community
Our historic church (the current building dates from the 1860s) plays its part in the life of the town and supports Hertford’s cultural life. Successful activities include folk concerts, drama productions and a Beer Festival. We have strong links with a number of community organisations and particularly value our work with St Andrew’s C of E Primary School
and the St Andrew’s Centre
St Andrew’s is a vibrant and inclusive place where we aim to share God’s love with those around us.
