What kind of things are happening at St Andrew's?


St Andrew's Beer Festival 2018 - Saturday 8 September
St Andrew's will be holding its second Beer Festival on Saturday 8 September 2018, 12.30-8.00pm, with lots will be going on for all ages, including a scarecrow competition. The event is part of a weekend of Harvest festivities, including The Bike ’n’ Hike event on 8 September (St Andrew's as one of the check points) and our All-Age Harvest Festival Service on Sunday 9 September. 

Charity cake sale - Sunday 16 September

Local girls Jordan and Emma are raising funds to travel to India and work with The Hope Foundation, supporting the street and slum chidlren of Kolkota, West Bengal. They will be selling cakes after the 10.30am service at St Andrew’s on Sunday 16 September, so please come along and support them—and take home some delicious baked goodies to enjoy!

Just walk. Just peace… 2000 miles for Equal Rights - Sunday 23 September

An evening at St Andrew’s Church with Hertford resident Tim Hagyard, who will talk about his walk across Europe to Jerusalem with the Amos Trust. The evening will include an audio-visual presentation and selection of Middle Eastern food..

The March - Saturday 29 September

How far would you go to win your rights? The March is a play about the Suffragette movement in Hertfordshire and it’s being performed at St Andrew’s Church on the penultimate night of its tour. From community theatre company Pins and Feathers Productions, who brought us First Light, the Passion Play put on at St Andrew’s in 2015.

Autumn Gold - Saturday 6 October

Enjoy a superb musical evening with The Alma Singers, a Ladies Choir from Great Barford, with flautist Lilibet Philpott and amazing international concert pianist Madalina Rusu. If you came to the concert in March 2017, you’ll know that this is an experience not to be missed! Tickets available from Ticketsource.

Regular events

Lunch Club for the over 60s
The Lunch Club is for anyone who is 60+, meeting on the second Friday of the month in The St Andrew's Centre (behind the church) between 12.30pm and 2.00pm. Volunteers cook a delicious two-course meal and you have the opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and make new friends. Lunch costs £5. If you would like to come, please let Viv Thornton (01992 584004) know for catering purposes. Thank you.

Coffee Mornings
On the first Saturday of every month, we hold a Coffee Morning at the church - delicious home-made cakes and refreshments are always available, along with items for sale, which make lovely gifts. 

Church at 3 - A Dementia-Friendly Service
Every other month we hold a 3pm Sunday Service at St Andrew's designed to be dementia-friendly. With traditional prayers and hymns followed by afternoon tea.

Soul Food - evening service
A contemporary service at St Andrew's on the first Sunday of the month (not including August or December).

Meditation and Mindfulness
Explore the riches of Christian meditation and how it fits with the practice and insights of Mindfulness. Twice a month on Wednesdays, 8pm at St Andrew's Church
Messy Church
Messy Church on Sele Farm takes place between 3pm and 4.30pm, usually on the fourth Sunday of the month, with fun, craft, stories, songs and food. Follow this link to find out more about Messy Church.
