Moving Mountains: Press Release

Saturday 13 June 2009 at St Andrew's Church Hertford 7.30pm

"Moving Mountains" is the inspirational story of one woman's courage and devotion on the front line

Moving Mountains

Saturday 13th June - 8pm

Claire Bertschinger (author of "Moving Mountains") was an International Red Cross nurse in Ethiopia in the famine of 1984. She was the central figure of a BBC News Report sent by Michael Buerk and broadcast in October 1984. This inspired Bob Geldof to put together the BandAid recording "Do they know it's Christmas?" Claire has worked in various war zones over the years and won many awards including the Florence Nightingale Medal in 1991 and the Women of the Year 2005 Window to the World Award.

Come and hear her story:

Site Updates

We've added some more content to the site:

Where Page Added

We've now added a nice Where page with an interactive map, so people can find the Church!

Obviously, this is mostly going to be useful for new visitors, but if you've never used Google Maps before, it's actually quite fun to click the Satellite option in the top right to see some great aerial photographs of the area.

Why not take a look?

In the Bath: Unplugged

Tim FitzHigham provides a fabulous evening of entertainment. Visit the Fund Raising Events page for more details or click on the poster below to view it fullscreen:

St. Andrews Magazine Now Available

The St. Andrews Magazine is now available in PDF format here. It should be viewable directly within the page for most people, but if not, a link is provided to download the magazine.

From now on, every issue should be archived here so you can always grab old ones if you need to.

Happy reading!

Hertford St. Andrews Version 2 Now Live!

As you can see, the new and improved Hertford St. Andrews website is now up and running!

Not everything from the old version has been moved across yet, but it will follow in the coming days.

The new site should be much easier to navigate and allows for a multitude of useful features to be added. For example, check out the calendar which displays details of all the upcoming events and church services (it hasn't been fully populated with events yet but this month's services are all listed). There's more to come so stay tuned!

Here's the last news article from the old site just in case you missed it:

Charles Ledsam, Chairman of the Fundraising TEAM, writes

The TEAM would welcome help in various areas:

  1. Prayer for the Hall project, those involved, giving thanks for fund-raisers, donors, and listening to what God is saying to us
  2. Taking on one event to organise for fundraising
  3. Personal fundraising: can you give regularly or on a one-off basis between now and the end of the year?
  4. Helping with publicity, leaflet distribution, posters, or contacting the Hertfordshire Mercury on a regular basis
  5. Have you got items to sell? Sworders auction sales of your surplus items have raised over £500 already (just from three people). Other items can be sold on E-Bay
  6. Needs analysis. Helping to prepare a survey for potential users
  7. Helping produce our next Newsletter.

To join the Fundraising TEAM or offer help or ideas speak to Charles on 01992 584426 or email charlesledsam@hotmail.com.

News From the Old Site

Here is the Hall for Hertford news from the old version of the site:

Any old antiques for auction?

Sworders are willing to sell items on your behalf for the church Hall and waive their commission provided all sums go to the church. There is a minimum likely sale value of £30. We will put full details of how this works on our church website. Alternatively talk to Sara Hudson or Charles Ledsam.
