It's more important than ever that we continue to connect and commune with one another, albeit remotely. And, just like so many churches across the world, we're utilising technology to make this happen - Together while apart.
We are sharing time and worship together through the wonders of Zoom. Those on our mailing list will receive an invitation via email in advance of the event, allowing them to join in at the right time. If you're not already on our mailing list, please email the church office: firstname.lastname@example.org.
In order to respect the privacy of our congregation, we kindly request that you do not share meeting links with others, thank you.

For those who haven't yet become acquainted with Zoom, here is a little info to help you get started, if you'd like to try.
Zoom is free and you can chat one-to-one for as long as you like. If you have more than three users you can only talk for 40 minutes but you can always restart after that time. Alan has a licence for St Andrew's, which means we can have 100+ users at a service or a meeting without any time constraint.
The great thing is that Zoom can be used on the computer, mobile phone, ipad, tablet and even landline.
Downloading Zoom with a link:
Your email invitation to join the service ('meeting') includes a link. If you'd like to join the service, it's important to get ready in advance:
If you don't already have Zoom, and would like to install it, click on the 'Join Zoom Meeting' link well before the service so that you can download Zoom onto your computer, mobile phone, ipad or tablet in plenty of time.
At the specified time on the day of the service, you can click on the 'Join Zoom Meeting' link and you should be all ready to go.
Downloading Zoom at any time:
You don't need to have been sent an invitation to get started with Zoom:
Go to Zoom's Getting Started page - you'll find instructions about Zoom on desktop and mobile, plus video tutorials and troubleshooting
Select the option you need, ie: Getting Started on Windows and Mac
Follow the instructions (the 'prerequisites' are the essential things required)
Once you have your email invitation for the service, you can then click on the 'Join Zoom Meeting' link and you should be all ready to go.
Zoom audio doesn't seem to work with every browser (Chrome or Microsoft Edge appear to work best), so it's worth checking this.
Zoom via a landline
Telephone participants will need to call either: 0208 080 6592 or 0203 481 5237 just prior to the service start time. Please contact Jane Cohen (07818 532154) or Rev. Alan (01992 582726) for the meeting ID and password. Then follow the verbal instructions, which are:
Enter the meeting ID followed by the # key
You will be asked to enter your participant ID, simply press the # key
Enter the password followed by the # key
You should then automatically join the service.
Please note: Your call charge for connecting to Zoom is likely to be no more than a local rate charge, or may be free, however this will depend on your particular call plan. If in doubt, please check with your provider.
Here is a useful YouTube Tutorial - it is only 14 minutes long but will give you a clear overview on how to work Zoom. Although the tutorial is focussing on small businesses, Zoom is great for church and private use.

GUIDELINES FOR THE SAFE USE OF VIDEO CONFERENCING
MAY 2020: St Andrew's and St Mary's have produced guidelines for using video conferencing, such as Zoom. You can read the entire document via the link in the heading above. Here is the extract for those participating in a Zoom 'meeting':
Suggested actions for Participants
Use their name to log in – rather than ‘Ipad’, for instance. This allows the meeting host to see who is coming into the meeting.
Consider whether you wish to create a separate login using your email, rather than login with Facebook or Google ID. Using these IDs can enable data sharing between applications.
One of the main security risks of Zoom is phishing (e.g. spurious emails posing as Zoom invitations, posting malicious links in Zoom chats etc.), so users ALWAYS need to remember to be careful of what links they click on and what info they give out, whatever the platform.
Participants joining any video conferences should be aware of what they have in their background - make sure there's nothing confidential that can be seen (e.g. password pinned to noticeboard immediately behind them, or something clearly identifying where they live).
