Pilgrim Trail

March 2020: Although St Andrew's has had to close and our services and activities have been suspended, we remain Here with you and Here for you.

You are welcome to look around our church and the following is a rough guide to what our Christian family church represents.

Should you want to visit, talk or make friends within; feel free to come and join our family to learn about the work of the LORD and our Christian faith.

There has been a church on this site for 1000 years, although the current building is only 140 years old.

High Altar

main-altar2 "Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness" Psalm 29.2

Over generations, Christians have sought to adorn their churches with artefacts that will instruct, inspire and delight the eye, in the traditions of their day.

Stained glass, brass lamps, mosaics on and behind the High Altar, the high blue ceiling, all aim in differing ways to tell us about God.

Proclaim the message, press it home on all occasions" 2 Tim 4.2   pulpit

The pulpit is used for teaching in the form of sermons on readings or in spiritual or moral topics, endeavouring to relate them to everyday life.

Lectern "Your word is a lantern to my feet and light upon my path" Psalm 110.105

The Bible is our main source to get to know and know about Jesus; every service includes one or more readings from the Bible.

Many Christians also study the Bible at home, on their own or in groups.

Jesus said: "Baptise all nations in the name of the Father; and of the Son and the Holy Spirit" Matthew 28 font

The font is at the entrance to the church to show that people, children or adults, become members of the church by baptism with water.

Prayer Corner

prayer-corner Jesus said:  "Come to me all that  ... are heavy laden and I will refresh you."  Matthew 11

Our church is open all day and is a good place to come to be quiet and share with God what is on your mind or burdening you, especially your cares for someone you love.

In this corner you can pray, put your prayer on the board or branch and light a candle

"Praise him with a blast of the trumpet; praise him upon the harp and lyre"  Psalm 150.3 organ

The organ leads us as we sing hymns together to praise God; it is also a versatile instrument for solo playing or recital.

Children's Corner

childrens-corner "Let the children come to me; do not try to stop them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark  10.14

Children are not just "the church of the future", they are part of the church today.

Children can use this corner to play or sit with their parents, during and after the services.
